Getting high memory usage from the lastest version of firefox, is there a way to limit the amount of memory it can use or is there a fix on the way?

After I have Firefox open for some time about 5 minutes or longer, I get a message from AVG anti-virus that Firefox is using over 300mb of ram.

Other sempton is it takes for ever to open a web page.(even google.com) which is cached because it my home page.

Only way to speed up web site opening is to close Firefox then re-open it. This seem to do a memory dump. Opening an other window of Firefox dose not help.
