Upgraded from 6.02 to 7.0 (automatically) on Win7. Running as standard user, FF 7 crashes on startup. Running with admin rights, FF starts up ok. Was running 6.02 as standard user with no issues. Disabled all plug-ins, and same result. Submitted this without the crash ID as well, but now have figured out how to supply it. Cannot see how to startup FF on win7 in 'safe' mode. Shift key during launch doesn't work. No menu items for 'start ff in safe mode.

Do you use a corporate login system (like IBM Tivoli Access Manager or Oracle Enterprise Single Sign On Manager). It causes Firefox 7 to crash. Until an update is available, you may need to run Firefox as an administrator (right click on the shortcut and select run as administrator) to prevent it from crashing on startup.

Yep.. that's it. In this case it's Oracle Enterprise Single Sign On (Oracle ESSO), which used to be Passlogix V-GO -- ver 11.1 (it still installs in C:\P-F\Passlogix\....) Same underlying code as Tivoli.

It's a problem to run FF as Admin. Users here don't have admin rights. So far the problem does not appear to be happening with an older version (6.0) of Passlogix V-GO running under XP-SP3

I have the same problem with Passlogix v-GO SSO v7.0.00, win XP-SP3.

Thanks Marc.. We have systems running XP, but fortunatly still running very old Passlogix version, which seems to be OK for now.

Here's a workaround for users using Oracle ESSO version 11.1.1.5.0 on win7. The workaround removes the startup of the v-GO helper object for mozilla. Note that this also means no SSO support for FireFox.

1st - on installation of ESSO - try turning off the Mozilla helper (custom install). A registry fix will also work (Try at your own risk and backup before editing the registry.) YMMV for this workaround and other versions/flavors of SSO/Tivoli/v-GO and Windows.

Key is [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Passlogix\Extensions\AccessManager\StartupApps]

Remove the line starting "MozHOPath"

Restart v-GO SSO or reboot

Managed to solve the issue with Windows XP SP3 and Tivoli Access Manager using exactly the same workaround detailed by MikeBY above.

FF7 now starts normally as expected.

Thanks.

I'm using FF7 && Oracle ESSO-LM v11.1.1.5.0 on Win7 64-bit

The workaround i'm using is to delete or move the Moz folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Passlogix\v-GO SSO\Helper\Moz\

I was able to launch ESSO and FF7 at the same time. Obviously this is another workaround that will not allow ESSO to work with FF. I can confirm that ESSO is stillworking in IE with this workaround in place.

I am having a similar problem. Almost every time I have to restart FF 7.0.1 (update, change add-ons, etc) it crashes. I haven't got any of that corporate software installed. The crash happens like 7 out 10 restarts with or without add-ons. Checked my plugins and add-ons an none seem to be the cause. Unchecked the hardware acceleration option to no avail.

I am running FF 7.0.1 on Win7 x64 Sp1 updated.

Unfortunately, this same issue continues to be a problem in FF8.0.

That's too bad. We are disabling v-GO support for Firefox, since we can't prevent users from installing FF, even if they only have standard user rights on Windows 7. Thanks for the update.. I'm continuing to monitor the buglist as well.
