Password remembered by Safari but not by Firefox
Hi there,
I wonder if you could help me solve the following issue. I've recently gotten fed up with the crashes and rainbow balls that Safari kept generating and decided to switch to Firefox.
So far it seems to be a good decision but there is one issue that still bugs me. There is a certain web page for which Firefox fails to save my login information; it doesn't ask me so I have to provide the info every time I log in. I consulted help and checked all the settings and password saving seems to be working well for other sites, so I guess it's about this specific website's prohibiting password saving. However, the password used to be saved by Safari with no problem. It's not a big deal but I'm just curious if there's a solution.
BTW it's a https:// central authentication website of a major university.

Some sites like PayPal, Yahoo, Windows Live and bank sites use autocomplete="off" to prevent Firefox from saving and filling the name and the password.
If a site uses autocomplete="off" then look at this article for a bookmarklet to remove that autocomplete attribute and Firefox will offer to store the name and password.

The Mozilla links listed are broken.
MozillaZine is not Mozilla, but I have notified the webmaster that site is not working.
For the chosen solution triple_sec provided feedback in addition to marking as solved but it would perhaps be more helpful if that feedback indicated which of the 3 solutions provided by cor-el helped. Not that it would reduce the content in any manner but it could change the emphasis or order of suggestions. I have at least 3 versions of "remember password" bookmarklet but the original one from squarefree.com is the only one I really use. One of the others bookmarklets is for frames.
For broken websites I've been using the "resurrect" extension and generally pull up the page from Google's cache -- though I could just as easily go back to using a bookmarklet to do the same now that I know the domain name to use instead of an IP address.

I used the first link (http://kb.mozillazine.org/User_name_and_password_not_remembered) when cor-el kindly posted his/her reply and it worked for me just fine back then. But the links seem to be working now as well—I'm not sure why rrieger1 said they were broken. Maybe they were actually broken when s/he posted and have been fixed since then? Anyway, hope this helps. :-)
