You can let all cookies expire if you close Firefox and make an allow exception for the ones that you want to keep.

Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Keep until": "I close Firefox"

That was not the answer. Reinstalling Firefox 3.6.2 solved the problem

I have at least one site that continues to say cookies are not allowed and gives instructions for allowing them in Firefox. Nothing I have done helps. My Firefox version is 3.5.7 and Firefox says there are no new updates.
