I get an extra new tab besides the tab that opens when I open something in an email.
When I open something in an email in Thunderbird I also get an extra new tab along with the tab for what I am wanting. If I don't delete this new tab, when I try to return to my email page it takes me to my Windows 11 home page. It only happens when I use Thunderbird and is very annoying. What do I need to do to resolve this issue.

Please show us a screen shot of this. I can't picture what you're describing.
When you say, "open something in an email", do you mean clicking on a web link? Normally that would open the link in your web browser. Or do you mean opening an attachment, like an image or a PDF? Attachments will, depending on how you have set up Thunderbird, open in an a designated external viewer, or save it on the computer, or ask you what to do.
- What version of Thunderbird?
- What is your operating system?
This all happened after an update a while back. This morning it finally went back to normal. Don't have the issue any longer.
