Auto updated to firefox 150 yesterday. What's new screen announced the rollout of the free in browser vpn had reached us (in Canada). Clicked the link to set up, went to screen to follow instructions. There's no vpn icon in the firefox menu bar, no matter what I do. (And I have done everything obvious.) Was the VPN not in the actual update I received or is this some bug/glitch? Thanks.

Solution below worked for me. I found it under previous forum post about the identical issue by another user.

Try going to a new tab and type about:config then type browser.ipprotection.enabled into the preference name then toggle it using the arrows or double clicking. This worked for me, hope it helps

I got this from here

I found this by searching with google.
Using a new tab on your browser type in about:config
a search bar comes up, type in browser.ipprotection.enabled
if it says false then you should be able to push the button all the way on the right to set it to true.

Hi Quimiqua,

Thank you so much for coming back to this thread to share your solution and marking it as the answer!

I just want to add a disclaimer that we haven't officially roll out the feature globally (as of now, it's only available to users in the US, UK, Germany, France and Canada).

Other users who are looking for the built-in VPN in Firefox may want to check out Use built-in VPN in Firefox to learn more about this feature.
