disable AI in search mode

Hello,

I have disabled AI according to the instructions given by Mozilla, under settings and AI controls. When I search, I still get the first result as an AI generated result. I want to disable that. I don't need AI's help to understand what I am looking for. I want an old school search without AI.

Is this possible? If not, could you please make it possible?

Thanks.

Hello,

This problem, is probably because of using the Google search engine, but you don't need to change it.

For the simplest fix, just type before:2023 after the search question, the AI will not appear. For another humorous fix, just type a bad word in the search, like f**k, the AI will not appear.

lastly, you can change your Google search engine to {google:baseURL}search?q=%s+-arse. to change the Google search engine in chrome, I'm pretty sure its found in settings. However for Firefox doesn't support raw URL editing, so you can use extensions or a search engine generator tools.

Aside from these, there are no major solutions. :(

Yes. You likely have Google as your selected search engine in Firefox and the AI results on top is from Google and not the Firefox web browser.

Thank you for trying to help. Apparently the firefox browser doesn't include a firefox search engine. Is there any way to access that?

Hello,

in actuality, Firefox doesn't have a search engine. Like @james, Firefox is a web browser that uses search engines to function. Hope it helps!

No, it is definitely the firefox search engine.

Firefox for desktop Windows, macOS, Linux and mobile versions for iOS/iPadOS and Android are web browsers.

Mozilla the makers of the Firefox web browsers does not have a search engine of their own. A search engine is for example google.com, duckduckgo.com, bing.com etc.

The search results you are getting is likely Google with their AI Overview on top of the search results. On top you can select the Web filter as a way to not get the Ai Overview in Google results.

Hi all, thanks so much. I changed my search engine to duck duck go.
