How to delete emails locally but not on server?
My mom's email is an old Roundcube account, managed by some little server service or something that doesn't seem to exist anymore - Execunet. She's in a lawsuit, and the lawyers need some emails from a certain date and timestamp. Her emails are also all in files from her real estate days. I can't seem to be able to search dates from the Execunet email site, and I also can't search all of her inbox - once files are put in folders, they're out of the inbox.
So I tried Thunderbird on my laptop, an dit's downloading all of her emails from 2006, which is in the tens of thousands. If and once I find what I need, I want to delete them from my computer. How do I do that without deleting them from the server, since the account is set up as IMAP? I searched but couldn't find any answers.
Thanks for the help - I'm sure others have asked about this, so I was surprised I couldn't find the answer easily.

After you click the Delete button you'll be presented with a confirmation dialog box that includes a "Remove message data" option, which you will want to choose in this case. After you click the Remove button, everything associated with that account will be deleted from your computer (but not the server.)

If you're completely done with that account on that computer and don't need access to any emails, including the important ones that you searched for and found, just go to (in Windows) Tools | Account Settings and in the right pane you'll see a Delete button. This will remove the account from Thunderbird but won't affect the messages on the server.
Thanks, Lin. I'm on the Mac OS platform, but I'm imagining it works similarly to that. Will deleting the account delete the emails as well? Or do I need to go find those and delete them separately?
