I tried exporting from the desktop with a scan QR but all I see is an empty outbox folder

Hello, Have you followed the steps exactly as described here? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-android-import.

If you see just the outbox it means the credentials are not moved, as in you cannot authenticate with your server.
