Hi,

In Thunderbird version 140 and newer, when I use a filter to immediately move an email to local folders upon receipt, Thunderbird does not indicate it as new (e.g., no icon in the system tray). When the email arrives in the Inbox, it is correctly signaled as new. Older versions used to indicate new mail even in local folders. Is this a bug or a feature?

AFAIK this is not a new problem.

So is this a bug? Is there a plan to fix it? I definitely had the 128esr version which was fine . But version 140esr is bad.

There was in fact a fix in 128.7.1 six months ago Bug 1941911 - No alert for Inbox on new messages if messages are moved via filter under certain circumstances (POP, non-Windows alerts)

Perhaps you are seeing Bug 1932442 - Alert in Windows tray does not show subject or sender - when the mail goes through a filter ??

The problem is as follows. I receive an email. This email is immediately moved to another folder by a filter based on rules. It does not end up in the inbox. I tested it, and it doesn’t matter whether it’s a folder within the account—for example, a subfolder of the inbox or a folder in local folders. It gets moved, it’s complete, it has everything. It is marked as unread. But no notification appears—neither the little icon by the clock nor the Windows notification in the Action Center. In older versions, this used to work. When an email arrives directly in the inbox, notifications work. When they are moved by a filter, they do not. That’s all.
