Is the problem specific to your shortcut or bookmark for Twitter? In other words, if you follow a basic link like

https://www.twitter.com/

do you still get the popup?

If so:

Do you recall installing any translation-related add-ons that might be responsible for the popup window? You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions. On the right side, find the "Manage Your Extensions" heading.

If there is at least one extension before the next heading -- "Recommended Extensions" -- please continue:

Then cast a critical eye over the list below that heading. Any extensions Firefox installs for built-in features are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Anything that might be related to website translation? If in doubt, disable (or remove). For your privacy and security, don't let mystery programs linger here.

Any improvement?

To see what process is generating the window, I would download and run this. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer

When the pop up is running, use the X on the menu bar in Process Explorer and it will show you the parent process of the window. Just click the X, hold it, and let go on the translate window.

Post screenshots for all to see.

Can you attach a screenshot?

Some websites add such a translation bar if they notice that you are in a not English speaking region and offer to translate to your local language. You can possibly use a content blocking extension to hide such a translation bar.

This is what I need to get rid of. Every time I click on my Twitter icon this pops up in a new window first. I am in the USA and do not need to translate anything. https://twitter-com.translate.goog/home?_x_tr_sl=en&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en-US
