  • Ctrl+F goes to the find bar.
  • Ctrl+L, Alt+D or F6 goes to the address bar.
  • Ctrl+K or Ctrl+J goes to the search/address bar.
  • / on Google and Youtube goes to the site's search box. For other sites you can use the extension Focus to search bar.

Very good try, zeroknight, but if you test each of your key combinations, you will see that none of them 'navigate back to the CURRENT search bar'.

In fact, i have tried about a dozen tips offered by various people, on different websites, and none of those could accomplish this, seemingly, simple task.

But, i discovered a workaround ! It is very clunky; however, it does the job and avoids the mouse.

Press 'Tab' four times and press 'right-arrow'. You will find your cursor has moved to the end of the text in 'the CURRENT search bar'.

Very good advice, Dropa. It is always a sensible practice to go through the official documentation of anything, before presenting a question to a public forum. Of course, i searched through the Firefox hotkeys documentation, several times, and tested everything that seemed like it might be the trick to 'navigate back to the CURRENT searchbar', before posing my question. It is very possible that i missed, overlooked, or did not understand something, but i could not find a solution there. In the meantime, my naive and clunky method of pressing the Tab key 4 times does, actually, accomplish the cursor move.

I am surprised that so few people seem to be interested in doing this with a keystroke. It seemed pretty logical to me. Maybe Mozilla accurately predicted that most people would rather just use the mouse and, so, a keystroke shortcut was never programmed into the interface.
