I followed all of the steps for Firefox taking up too much memory, and stopped when it said to add RAM or upgrade my computer. Browsers shouldn't be maxing out my RAM and it's getting worse. In the last 6 months or so, my computer started crashing while doing other things unrelated to Firefox. Went into my task manager and saw that Firefox was taking up most of my RAM. Yes, I have a lot of tabs open, but they didn't cause my computer to run out RAM like this last year. Why is it being such a pig?

I have 32GB of RAM and that stuff is costly. I might not be able to find RAM for this computer and may have the max amount (will have to check that). So is buying a new computer because this one cost me over $4.5k and one like it today will cost over $6k ... just because Firefox wants to eat up more and more? Once I kill Firefox, my RAM goes back down to 45% instead of 90%, but I don't like it closed. I have to restart too many steps for extensions when I open it and like to have it open while I do other things.

Please, stop increasingly taking up all of my RAM! Firefox is causing all sorts of strange things to happen when there's too little RAM. Blue screen of death, programs not being able to start, monitor wigging out, etc. Give us a break today.

ok,my friend first, you have 32GBs RAM,isn't it?it is enough to open more than 15 pages.Maybe you do not have a good habit, you should close some pages when you do not surf them. You do like this can help you save the RAM.I only have 4GBs RAM,but i still have a good experience, because i close useless pages. Try like this, and how many pages do you open at once usually?

In a new tab, type or paste about:processes in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Compare what you see there with what you see in Task Manager.

It doesn't matter how many tabs I have open, and my habits are my habits and nobody's business but my own. I was a computer professional, soooo. That shouldn't change just because of Firefox updates. I have been viewing things with the Firefox Task Manager, and that's quite a display for these old eyes. I have a very wide monitor, so it's hard to look left & right to see which tab statistics are moving around. Seems to be limited, too. I only see a subset of tabs, but also didn't see if there was a next page option to see more. I have 3 windows open with multiple tabs. I only ever see the window I opened the Task Manager in, regardless of which different window I open it with. That's how I know I'm not seeing all tabs. It's my first experience with that manager, so I'll keep an eye on which tab is hogging up all the RAM. They go from low to middle to high and all around. Difficult to tell which tabs are problematic. Perhaps it's only showing the most 'used' tabs and not all of them. Some could be dormant and not causing issues. I'll keep looking.
