setting up email address but getting unable to log in at server, probably wrong... etc
I downloaded Thunderbird 91.8.0. While downloading, I contributed $20.
I need help adding an existing email address. The green box said Checking Password, then it came back with "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password".
I use Windows 10, startmail.com, ExpressVPN.
What can I do about this, please?
I will configure manually, if that is what is takes. But I got the same error when I tried.

Turn off the VPN or exclude Thunderbird's traffic from the tunnel and try again. Use manual configuration and make sure you have Normal Password as the authentication method, UNLESS your email provider says you have to use a different authentication method. Also, you need a device password according to https://support.startmail.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006536217-Configure-a-trusted-device-IMAP-password
