VPN problems with Mac OS?

Hi, I installed Mozilla VPN (basic version) on my iMac running Big Sur 11.5.2. When I went to try to "connect" with the VPN after it downloaded, it would not connect and I also could no longer connect to the internet via Firefox or Safari, even though my WiFi was actively connected (BTW - I also downloaded it to my iPhone and that's working fine.) I had to uninstall Mozilla VPN to get internet connectivity back. Is there a compatibility issue between Mozilla VPN and Big Sur? Or was it possibly a bad download?

Hello,

Thanks or your message.

With macOS, Mozilla VPN is compatible on version 10.14 and up your device is compatible.

I suggest you reset the Mozilla VPN and try again.

To reset the VPN, please start by signing out of the Mozilla VPN. You can do this by clicking the gear icon at the top right of the application, and selecting ""Sign Out"" at the bottom of the options. Next, please uninstall the application, followed by reinstalling.

We recommend using the most recent installation files, which can be downloaded from vpn.mozilla.org.

The sign-out is an important step for the process due to deleting some files that otherwise don't get purged.

Please try this and let us know how it goes.

I'm having this same issue - I'm on 10.14, and when I try to connect the VPN, it shows that it's trying to establish a connection, then fails... then my computer loses all internet connectivity until I go into my network settings and update them. I've signed out of VPN and uninstalled/reinstalled - same issues.

Similar issues. Want to know what Mozilla Support responded with today?

Could you please make sure that you login via the Firefox browser in order to set up the VPN successfully? It seems like other users encountered the same problem on MacOS and it worked after setting Firefox as their default browser when logging in. '

So they've acknowledged it's an issue and aren't looking to fix it. Instead they want to force everyone to make Firefox the default browser. AND they're preventing people from voicing concerns or raising issues publicly by hiding the Post a Question button in the forums now.

Ridiculous.
