Question about opening a link

I hope you all can help,

When I click on a link in a webpage, it doesn't open it in a tab (maybe I should be calling it a window?) next to the existing one. It opens it down at the end on the right. (I often have about twenty tabs (again, windows?) open at a time, so I end up having to drag the new tab to the left to park it next to the first tab.)

Thanks! -Chris

Cancel this question - I just double checked it and it's opening new tabs next to the previous one as I want it to. I'm not quite sure why I thought it wasn't.

Note that there are two cases and both have their own pref setting on the about:config page.

You can check these prefs on the about:config page. The former is for normal link and the latter is for links opened via JavaScript.

  • browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent = true
  • browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent = true

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can click the button to "Accept the Risk and Continue".
