I am running FF 60.0.1 (64-bit) and recently upgraded it. Since then, most links fail and generate the message "Your connection is not secure".

I am running FF 60.0.1 (64-bit) and it was automatically upgraded recently (in the past month). Since then, I am getting the message "Your connection is not secure" for a great many links (probably 80% of the time). These links are mainly from sources that have never been a problem in the past. This includes links that were working a month ago and still work in Safari but not in FF. I cannot believe that so many website owners have "configured their websites improperly". The support articles in FF are practically useless and do not adequately address this problem. I tried uploading a 143KB screen shot of the error message but I have given up as the uploading process is not working (the upload icon just keeps whirring and has been doing so for over a minute).

Some security software acts as a man-in-the-middle and sends its own certificate instead of the website certificate.

There is security software like Avast and Kaspersky that intercepts secure connections and sends their own certificate or that incorporates special web shielding features that can block content.

Also make sure that the date and time are correct as we have seen cases that the time was off enough to cause issues with SSL. You may have to try another internet based time service.

I am not using any of the security software mentioned in the article referenced nor do I get the message SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER. The date and time on my computer are correct.

Do you get an error page or are you referring to the message you see in the Control Center 'i' icon drop-down when you visit a website via an open HTTP connection?

Can you attach a screenshot?

With a domain mismatch there are usually only a few possible causes. One if that the links shouldn't be opened via the secure HTTPS protocol, but are meant to be opened via the HTTP protocol. This can be caused by using an extension that forces a secure connection.

The the issuer of the certificate seems to be sendgrid.net, an email delivery service similar to Amazon AWS.

Does sendgrid.net ring a bell?

sendgrid.net does not ring any bells.

I will have to read the extension notes and troubleshoot accordingly but is it possible that having HTTPS Everywhere enabled is causing the problem?

more options

It is quite possible that HTTPS Everywhere is causing this problem because it forces a secure connection and in this case the server isn't configured properly with a certificate, but seems to use the default certificate from the hosting company.

In cases like this when an extension might be interfering you always have check for such issues and disable such extensions and if necessary make an exception in the extension.
