I am working on re-building a website for a client , in which the site was previously hosted on another server ( Wordpress hosting ) that had https, ( https://spanuance.ca ) the site is now currently hosted with Hostgator on an unsecured server "http" ( http://spanuance.ca )

Since the site has been transferred and is currently being rebuilt in Wordpress, I cannot access it through Firefox, I get the "Your connection is not secure " message however the weird thing is that I decided to view the site in FireFox on another computer and it shows absolutely fine... I also sent the link to multiple other people and they have no issue viewing the site in Fire Fox , or on any other browsers.....this is only happening on my PC.......

Another bizarre thing is that because the hosting was recently transferred ( since yesterday, ) it is still showing in the SERPS which is normal, however when I click on the link in the serps it takes me to the old website ( https://spanuance.ca ) as if it was still there. In Whois , it now clearly shows the new DNS information.

I have tried multiple times to clear the Cache and refresh etc, but to no avail.....

I could understand if this was happening on all FireFox browsers on different PC's , but it is not...it only seems to be happening on mine....can someone take a look and tell me what they see ? Sometimes when I enter the URL like this: " www.spanuance.ca ", it will take me to the old https://spanuance.ca , which should not be happening as it is technically no longer pointed to that server...

I have attached a screenshot from Chrome of the site that I am building just to make sure that this is the site people see and not the old one on the https server

I'm totally baffled by this one...any help would be very much appreciated TX

Try this with both links; https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Clear+Recent+History#w_how-do-i-remove-a-single-website-from-my-history

Remove History For One Site

Open the History Manager <Control><Shift> H. In the search bar, enter the name of the site. Right-click on one of the listings and select Forget About This Site. This should remove all information, including any passwords / settings.

I tried the secured link and got;

spanuance.ca uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed.

and a link to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER

Ok thanks for taking a look....however the the secured website is no longer relevant as it is no longer hosted that secured server.....this was what the link used to be.....it is now on the http://spanuance.ca where there is no SSL ..when you click on this link, do you get the website at all ? I am just trying to get more third person views of it.....

I get the feeling that this is only happening to those who had previously visited the site on the previous server when it was secured and now the browser is detecting a false positive... , as everybody that I sent the current link to seem to have no issues viewing the site....if this is just some stupid issue with my system for whatever reason I don't really care, I just need to make sure this is not happening with anyone else......

Tx

That link gives me Spa Nuance

Ok Thanks and you viewed this from Fire Fox ? sorry for the dumb question but I just want to make sure ......

tx

Yes. Firefox 54 and 57. What are others telling you about the issue?

Thanks for the quick reply.......so far nobody else is having any issues viewing the site normally.....however the people that have viewed the site have never visited it before....

so I'm thinking that this is only happening to those that have previously visited the old https version, however I can't be sure....the only person who I can assume has seen it before as https, is my client, however I don't know what browser they used to view it when it was under https....

anyway there is only one way to find out which will be a real pain in the ass if it acts up on their browser like it did mine....as you can imagine the client will think it is happening with everybody..

At that point the only option that I could think of would be to add ssl to it if that be the case....I cannot imagine another way to resolve it if they get the same connect not secure issue...

Hey Thanks ! This worked !! very much appreciated...have a great day !

Glad to help. Safe Surfing.

Note that you can check the SiteSecurityServiceState.txt file in the profile folder and remove entries about a specific domain to prevent Firefox from switching to HTTPS.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
