How do I set the default search engine to None?

I frequently need to access the web servers in devices on my LAN (printers, routers, WAPs, etc.) When I type a local IP address or hostname into the address bar, FireFox presumes I'm doing a search. It's quite annoying when a feature I never use and never intend to use, interferes with a feature I need frequently.

That is not possible. There always needs to be one search engine enabled and set to the default search engine.

You can disable keyword search instead and set keyword.enabled to false on the about:config page.
