Downloaded files disappear upon restart
I have a problem with Firefox automatically removing downloaded files upon restart (or exit, more precisely to say). This happens only if the file was downloaded with "Open -> Open with" into AppData\Local\Temp. Can this be turned off? I am running Firefox 51 on Windows 10. I have not been observing this behavior on Firefox 49 and Windows 7. Thanks!

hi simonovm, this is the expected behaviour i'm afraid. there are two possibilities in the firefox download dialog: save and open.
save will put the file in your designated download folder, while open downloads the file to the temporary folder of your operating system, opens it with the associated application, but windows will clear this file after you reboot or delete your temporary files in another fashion.
The behavior you describe is indeed expected. However, the one I describe happens when I exit Firefox (and not restart Windows nor empty temporary files). I suspect a) Firefox explicitly doing it or b) Firefox creating the files with some flag that causes Win10 to remove them once the handle is released.
ok, it might be a windows 10 thing then - i could also reproduce it there with versions older than 49...
But it seems it's specific to Firefox. For example, current Palemoon keeps the files intact after exit.
