When I try to use "print preview" in Thunderbird to look at an unknown email before I open it. A dialog box tries to open but quickly closes. The status line at the bottom of the program window says "Print Previewing Message" , but there is no preview. This has only occurred since the last update. I am Using Win 10 and have not had any similar problem in the past.

what print preview would protect you from I have no idea. The mail has to be opened for the content to be visible in the print preview. So the basis for your action is not valid. Although you may have identified a bug in doing so.

How exactly do you select the mail to be print previewed? If you select print, what printer it nominated?

There is a {print preview] link in the menus that doesn't work, apparently. I never had to choose a printer, etc. before. When I picked [print preview], I would get a look at the email, I presumed possibly wrongly, that I could see a dodgy email without actually looking at it (similar to the old Outlook Express). If the function is not going to work, why have it in the program?

Print preview does work for just about everyone. I have seen exactly one person saying it does not work. You.

Therefore I ask you to set a printer. If none is set for whatever reason then I would assume print preview does not work. Just a word can not print a document without a printer.

As far as outlook express is concerned, it had a very nasty habit of running scripts in email when you opened them. made the dancing pointers easy, but a real security risk. Thunderbird does not run scripts. SO opening the message to read it is not a risk as it was in outlook express.
