How come I can't find a way to color my different categories in my agenda? And How come I need to read the tutorial for most steps I wanted to do(not userfriend

I wanted you to know that I was really exciteds to use Thunderbird since it was recommended by a member of my family. I was deceived: I can't join my university email address on the email pannel. It was luxury, but I would enjoy not having to open different internet windows for that. I downloaded Thunderbird because I need an agenda with tasks easily moved, like in Outlook, but I wanted to encourage something else than Microsoft and I was hoping for a cheap or free synchronised version I could have on my smartphone, and I was deceived by that as well. I didn't like the fact that we could categorise our events, but could not change the color according to the category. It didn't link the categories I created in the events to the categories available in the tasks. I was surprised as well that I had to go for the tutorial for basic things. I normally learn how things work by clicking on many things and reading menus, but it wasn't enough this time and I was deceived by the fact that Thunderbird was not userfriendly for me.

I take the time to write this to you because I hope this can help you compete with Outlook, know what makes me go back to Microsoft. I am waiting for your update that will make me change of software.

Thank you!

Perhaps if you asked for assistance instead of expecting the software to do it for you we might be able to move forward.

You can not get your university mail set up. This is not uncommon as many universities have contracts with Microsoft to only use Exchange and it's proprietary protocols. There are ways around these vendor lock-in contracts. But you have to ask.

Have you looked in the options where you can define colors for Categories and add new categories? It looks to me like you get to set a color for each category, just they do not have one by default.

synchronize your calendar to what exactly.... this is not a case of I want to sync my phone and computer. Synchronization is done to a provider, be it Google, a university caldav server or one other caldav provider. They are numerous and vary from free to corporate providers.

Tell me, do you learn be just reading random books at your university, or do you generally spend the time to read at least an overview of the topic first. My point being, if you can learn software by just clicking without reference to other materials it is in all probability shallow, lacking in feature and probably seriously lacking in customization.

15 Years ago Microsoft complained that the vast majority of features they were asked to add to Word were already in Word. This has only become worse as people no longer read documentation. I have watched highly paid professional use Microsoft office. I seriously doubt that they could be considered proficient in the use of a mouse. But they are teaching others how to use the products. Most users are unaware of about 80% of the features of the software they use, mostly they praise that software as user friendly and intuitive. If they actually knew how to use the software they would be far more productive but they do not know they do not know. Are really take offense when told they don't.

You have a lot of sophisms in your arguments. Softwares like this one is supposed to be easy to use on a daily basis by anyone, not university research books. Your comparison to university studies is not appropriate. Ask people around me: I am the weirdo who always reads the instruction manual of whatever I buy. I made a personnal comment that I find this software not userfriendly(and I specified with the two simple words "for me") and there is nothing you can say to make me change my mind because that's how I lived my experience with the software. It's not an objective easily calculated parametre. I normaly have ease with computers and softwares (except mac), and I didn't find this one easy to navigate through. If you find normal people have to go through the tutorial and still have have questions to ask, maybe you tutorial center is not complete enough. Anyway, I normaly don't have to go through this when I install my other softwares and applications, so I guess you don't take critic... I was just trying to help: most people just uninstall and don't say anything to anyone. I was highly decieved it didn't work for me! I just thought you might want to know. Have a good day anyway!
