Passwords saved in my Firefox profile are not showing, neither being saved. Settings in Security are ok to save the passwords. Privacy settings are ok to not delete them. Passwords are still in the logins.json file (it is not empty and there are my URLs with the encypted informations. I am not using Master Key yet. I have created a new profile, copied the logins.json and key3.db file from the old profile. Started Firefox selecting the new profile and voila, the passwords are now shown. Anything else is preventing its access in the old profile. What? How can I fix the old profile, since I have lots of bookmarks and addons/extensions defined?

Thanks, Klaus

Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?

There is a difference between remembering the name and password in the Password Manager and a "remember me" check box on a web page to log you in automatically. The latter usually involves the creation of a special "remember me" cookie that is stored on your computer and that is send to the server. If this "remember me" cookie is removed or gets corrupted or is not send to the server then the server won't remember you and you will have to sign in once again.

Removing cookies from a website makes the website forget about you.

If you lose passwords in the Password Manager then it is possible that there is a problem with the files that store the passwords (logins.json and key3.db). If these files work in a new profile then an extension might cause this.

Did you try Firefox Safe Mode to see if an Add-on (extension/theme) is causing this problem?

cor-el, As I have described: "Passwords saved in my Firefox profile are not showing, neither being saved. Settings in Security are ok to save the passwords. Privacy settings are ok to not delete them. Passwords are still in the logins.json file (it is not empty and there are my URLs with the encypted informations." SO: I mean names and passwords saved in the Password Manager !!!

AND: "I have created a new profile, copied the logins.json and key3.db file from the old profile. Started Firefox selecting the new profile and voila, the passwords are now shown."

It is not a problem with the logins.json and key3.db files that are working in the new profile !!!

>>Did you try Firefox Safe Mode to see if an Add-on (extension/theme) is causing this problem?<< Yes I have tried and the problem is still there.
