Youtube Videos Not Playing In Firefox
I realize this question has been asked before. But my Firefox browser will not play youtube videos, or load any site that might require flash for that matter. I have solved this problem in the past by uninstalling and reinstalling flash. That is no longer working. I have already restarted the browser in safe mode. There are no add ons affecting the flash performance. I have tried the temporary fix of deleting and disabling youtube cookies. That did not help. If I go to youtube, I can see the preview thumbnail of the video, but once I click to play, it is just a black box. Someone PLEASE tell me how to fix this. It is driving me insane to have to fix this problem every few days. I have no idea why it keeps happening. I am not changing settings or doing anything different. Help!!

YouTube normally uses the HTML5 media player and not the Flash plugin in current Firefox versions. You can check that via the right-click context menu in the player area. A Flash player always shows the Flash version that is used.

I think though, since as I mentioned other sites using flash do not work when this problem pops up, that this is a flash problem. I use several chat based sites that use flash. If I'm having this youtube problem, those sites don't work either. They sit in a blank black screen instead of loading the chat.
You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:
- make sure you have the latest Flash version:
http://www.adobe.com/special/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html - check for updates for your graphics drive drivers
https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration - disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Windows Vista and later)
https://support.mozilla.org/kb/adobe-flash-protected-mode-firefox - disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html - disable hardware acceleration in Firefox

After much troubleshooting, it appears the problem is more than just Firefox. I created a new profile on my computer, and flash seems to be working just fine there. I appreciate your help. Thank you. :)
