I have been using outlook for the past 16years, recently changed computers and email clients to Thunderbird thinking that it would work... It doesn't.

I have an archive of over 20,000 emails, most of which can not be deleted. Unfortunately Thunderbird gives up after about 2009... Leaving about 8k of the most recent emails undownloaded. (everything from 2009-now) As a result I have had to use web mail for the last few weeks while I constantly erase, compress, delete trash and fetch mail again in thunderbird. To the point it now says there is no email left to download when I can see that there is 8k left even if I erase a ton of emails first.

I need a solution and quick, one that allows me to archive my vast email museum. I have looked at changing to pop from imap, but that doesn't preserve my archives.

Is there somewhere I can download a complete copy of my emails? Is there a program that can handle email better then Thunderbird? Is it possible to have thunderbird ignore emails that where put on the server prior to 2014?

How would you deal with 20k emails you cant delete and need a back up of?
