The menu does not display functions after I move add on icons from the toolbar to the menu

None of the functions are displayed on the menu after I move add on icons from the tool bar to the menu. When I click on open menu (3 bar icon), the menu momentarily flashes with all the functions. If I click again, the only available functions are "sign in to sync," "customize," help and power. The issue goes away if I move the add on icons back to the toolbar. This problem started right after updating to FF 36.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
