The phone is a Geeksphone Peak and the version of the OS is 1.4. The issue is with automatic switching from WiFi to cell for my data. If I take the phone outside of the WiFi range, it does not acquire the data signal (2G, Edge, H, or 3G) and thus I do not have data. I've left it for hours with no luck. The only solution is to restart the phone while outside of the configured WiFi connections and it will pickup the data signal. When I re-enter the WiFi area, it picks up the network and switches with no problem.

I had this problem with version 1.1 too. I upgraded thinking that it might be fixed but it did not.

Thanks Ralph. There was a core update available that did not appear yesterday. After installing it, I get the options you mention, namely to turn on cell data in the notification area. Thanks so much for the tip and the quick response.

Hi srgarcia,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with the data reconnecting after you leave the range of a Wi-Fi connection.

I also experienced this problem when using some devices with version 1.1, but this problem has since been resolved and shouldn't be occurring in version 1.4.

Instead of restarting the phone, I would suggest pulling the notification bar from the top of the device, and then deactivating the Wi-Fi manually, then deactivating and reactivating the Data icon (either 'E', 'H', '3G').

Have you experienced this with other versions of Firefox OS on that same device? If you are willing to flash other versions of the OS, you can download them from the Geeksphones website, including v2.0:

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

- Ralph
