Hi Support team,

I am unable to start firefox. It crashes and I have submitted a crash report

The Crash ID is: bp-4364e126-8703-4be0-8219-411132140703

This happened after I installed a software for grabbing videos (forgot the name) and the issue did not go away after uninstalling it

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing Firefox but I still get the same error

I am unable to start another software called orbit downloader as well

Thanks for your help

Note that the crash report is a crash with MediaBox (networksniffer.dll)

Try scanning for malware, Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware

And then Reset Firefox by holding down the Shift key while starting up Firefox, and then Select "Reset".

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Yes as the above expert told you the firefox may crashes due to setting changes so please reset firefox this will lead to default setting and some malware may get removed which are trying to crash it.

wilcos, sorry, please ignore the above "answers" from "GAUTAM24" and "Abhishek Thakur".

Please do a clean re-install if my steps don't work.

This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.

  1. Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
  2. After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
  3. Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    • Windows:
      • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
  4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    1. Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
    2. Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.

WARNING: Do not run Firefox's uninstaller or use a third party remover as part of this process, because that could permanently delete your Firefox data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. These cannot be easily recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!

Please report back to say if this helped you!

Thank you.

Hi all,

Thanks a lot for your replies and your inputs.

I have solved the issue by doing 2 things: 1- Full scan for malware, 3 issues found and removed, but this did not fix the problem 2- A system restore to a few days back and this fixed the problem

The reason I opted for this solution is because there were other programs which stopped working including orbit downloader and even steam

Hope this will be of use to anyone who needs it in the future! Thanks again to all, Wilco
