I assume you have changed your home page in the Options dialog but it isn't working right. This article has the steps: How to set the home page.

Could you try whichever of these is the closest to your problem, or if none of these is right, describe your situation in more detail:

(1) Problem only at startup: if you open a new window (Ctrl+n) during your session, the home page is correct.

Check the shortcut you use to start Firefox, to see whether the unwanted URL was inserted there.

Right-click the shortcut > Properties > Shortcut tab.

On the line that says target, the last thing should be firefox.exe" If you find anything following that, such as the address of the unwanted site, go ahead and remove it.

(2) Home page keeps getting reset at startup: but if you change it in the options dialog, then Ctrl+n opens the correct page until the next time you exit and restart Firefox.

Check for a user.js file as described in this article: How to fix preferences that won't save.

(3) Home page setting ignored: no matter what you select in the Options dialog, you get the unwanted home page when opening a new window.

Most likely, this is caused by an add-on, and specifically an extension.

Try this: Disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.

Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Does any of that help?
