Is there any tweak I can make on the about:config that would allow me to open visited sites from the history tab without actually closing it? If I go to history or manage history, once I open a visited site, the menu/tab minimizes. It's annoying.

Hi

I would avoid using about:config for this and instead suggest using the sidebar in Firefox. This support article should help you to set this up so that you can view your browsing history and open and close it from a toolbar icon:

In the hamburger menu (≡) or the History toolbar button, you can right-click > Open in New Tab without the menu closing. In the case of the separate Library window, dragging history items into the tab strip will avoid losing focus. You can also highlight multiple items by holding Ctrl or Shift and then open them in one go.
