I am unable to send email. I either get this error message: 'Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) netsol-smtp-oxcs.hostingplatform.com timed out. Try again. The settings are: Description: Outgoing Server Type: SMTP Outgoing Server Server Name: netsol-smtp-oxcs.hostingplatform.com Port: 465 User Name: gene@genemaas.net Authentication method: Normal password Connection Security: SSL/TLS Successfully established a secure connection to netsol-smtp-oxcs.hostingplatform.com:465.

I get the same error using Port 587 and STARTTLS

I have also been asked for a password to connect to: netsol-imap-oxcs.hostingplatform.com I have never needed a password before and I do not have a password.

I do receive emails.

A few days ago I sent emails and did not see the usual "Saving to Sent (IMAP)". Instead it said something like saving to Sent folder. That's fine, but the emails didn't appear in my Thunderbird Sent folders. I downloaded Thunderbird to see if my version was obsolete. Still no emails in Sent folder. The internet said I could delete my Sent folder, and Thunderbird would re-establish Sent folder. It did not. I can still see my old emails in my Local Thunderbird sent mail, so I deleted about 100 old emails in case the folder was too full. Still, the new emails I was sending did not appear. I checked with a few recipient people and they told me the email go to them. I have tried all the "solutions" I can find. What else can I do to see copies of my outgoing emails.?

Hello All, I'm desperately trying to set my uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird to have Body Text as default. All suggestions online are outdated and don't work since suggested places in settings and account settings are not existing anymore. I have a machine at home with Thunderbird and it has Body Text as default. How on earth can I get there? Thanks

A new one today. Some but not all emails are downloading, in that they seem to be in the IN box but all they are showing is the date - no content or subject. I am a btinternet user. If i check the account online, the conent is there. Have just had one such from Mozilla giving me a sign in code. I'm not quite sure where to sign in with it though as I appear to have already signed in automatically. Oh dear! Carol

Thunderbird demands my password for outgoing SMT server when I go to send an email but when I enter it, system won't accept it even though it is the correct password. I have had this problem for some time and it comes and goes. Sometimes I have ebeen able to send without a problem, then it comes back I had a helpful reply from this forum (can't find who posted it - Mick?) tellling me to go into the error console (Ctrl + Shift + J) and delete eveything in that. I tried that. It worked at first, but now when I do it, it has no effect. And the problem now appears to have become permanent, although occasionally after I have been working for some hours, then suddenly I can send without any problem. Problem hasn't budged though for a couple of days now. This is a mysterious and erratic gremlin, which now seems to have taken root. Any suggestions please? Carol

Some of the messages in my inbox show the wrong information in the "from" and "correspondents" columns. Is there a way to get the correct information from the message to be displayed?

I have a profile set that uses IMAP and need to change this to POP. I have tried changing the settings and tried creating a new profile by exporting folders and files but nothing is working correctly.

One problem I have is that in the IMAP profile I now have a second email address that is the same address name but is a POP setup. This is confusing. When I use the POP email to export and then import into a new profile I again get two email addresses in the folder panel of the new profile and one of them does have folders but they are empty.

Below is a screen shot of the original IMAP Profile. The upper address has folders but they are now blank because I pasted them in the lower address. I have tried selecting/highlighting the lower address for exporting but when I do I get the two addresses but the folders are empty/blank.

This is the message I get when I try to send a message. Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: <budguinn@charter.net> sender rejected. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again.

After first pressing "Mark" (K), the shortcut keys for "Mark as Junk" (S) and "Star" (S) are the same. Previously, the shortcut key for "Mark as Junk" was (J). Please make the necessary corrections.

Можно воспользоваться кнопкой "Получить сообщения", после ее нажатия также слетает цветовая метка (скрин)

Hi, I've been using Thunderbird for years. It's been a great utility. However, today when I started it up, there was a random folder (UserFolder_27) created in the system folders. There was no right click option to delete it. Here are the remedial steps I took to remove it.

• Exited Thunderbird, removed the Userfolder_27.msf file from directory, restarted. No change.
• Right clicked the main account and Unsubscribed from UserFolder_27. Exited Thunderbird, removed the Userfolder_27.msf file from directory, restarted. No change.
• In Account Settings>Copies&Folders>Message Archive the UserFolder_27 was checked (no idea why). Unchecked the main "Keep message archives in" box. Exited Thunderbird, removed the Userfolder_27.msf file from directory, restarted. No change.
• Rechecked "Keep message archives in" and selected another personal folder. Exited Thunderbird, removed the Userfolder_27.msf file from directory, restarted. No change.

Somewhere in the troubleshooting steps, it created a second Spam folder.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

I never had this problem before. People who get my messages, including the copies automatically sent back to me, have ?? ?? instead of the tabs or  ?? spaces I used in the messages. Messages sent to me from other people come in without the ?? marks. Example of my test message copied back to me: ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? 26 Aug 26

With thunderbird this has just started.

I frequently send email that I have pasted part of an article from a news website. The pasted text is the standard black text. The bit pasted, when I look at my sent emails, has blue text.

All my comments on the bit pasted in my sent email are in the standard black text.

Mail.com (and all its vanity domains like usa.com, europe.com, myself.com, etc.) & many such domains no longer work in Thunderbird. They used to

recoverable? reportable? If too much trouble, say so and I can let it go. previously they were populated with titles and email content no relief after compressing folders, nor using safe mode. rlse: 153.1.0esr on Win10 home 22H2 19045.7663

Additional details:

• Operating system: Windows (please specify your Windows version if known)
• The issue started on August 25, 2026.
• Thunderbird becomes unresponsive shortly after startup.
• A “System Integration” prompt appears before Thunderbird becomes unresponsive.
• I cannot click any buttons once Thunderbird becomes unresponsive.
• I tested both available profiles (“default” and “default-esr”) using the Profile Manager, but the same issue occurred with both profiles.
• I also started Thunderbird in Troubleshoot Mode with all add-ons disabled, but the issue still occurred.
• I can force-close Thunderbird through Windows when it becomes unresponsive.
• I have not deleted or modified any Thunderbird profile files because I want to avoid losing existing email data.
• The profile containing my email data appears to be “default-esr”.

I would appreciate any guidance on how to identify the cause of this issue and restore Thunderbird without losing my existing emails.

Today all my yahoo & aol accounts were locked (About 10) . I had to release all 10 of them before Thunderbird can receive emails on accounts that are not locked (other than hotmail , gmail etc). I am reasonably sure this is not a yahoo / aol issue (though I know they are owned by same company Verizon Media )

Because I have seen this problem in the past with other email domains . If hotmail or gmail is locked then I cannot receive any yahoo emails until I release all locks on hotmail or gmail etc accounts

I read somewhere it may be auth issue such as OAuth2 but all my my settings are correct to OAuth2
