PLEASE do not tell me to reset or try safe mode--the last person who raised this issue was told that THREE times by THREE different FF "experts." S/he must be very frustrated (s/he responded every time that it was no solution).

What do you see if you load it once?

A blank screen/page and the loading circle spinning and the word "connecting. . . " or the page's title next to the loading icon in the tab field

Are you having similar problem from other browsers in the same pc?

Nope. I did try that. Chrome and Safari and IE (from which I had to brush cobwebs) all load new tabs without hanging/needing a second click. That's the odd part, on the second try, it almost always succeeds

Hello,

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article (especially the "Test for faulty extensions" part)to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

Thank you.

thanks for the reply. I've been at work away from primary PC. I did however try disabling all extensions before contacting mozilla. That was not it

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
