when thunderbird starts it also brings up an McAfee ad which cannot be removed without closing thunderbird

The ad says AOL on top. then activate your license now with a McAfee Logo, then antivirus software needs your attention. Your credit card has failed update it now. With a Login for AOL. I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled, ran all the antivirus apps I have and still no luck. Should I just uninstall the app and then go into AppData and delete the Thunderbird Folder?
