There is a problem which is making wasting time.

At any folder when I open a mail message the sentence "loading message" appears at status bar but it takes a looooot of time to display it at the screen. It might take up to a minute or more.

It doesn't happen with all messages but only on some

After a lot of testing and experiment I found out that this happens when the message has a lot of inline images, such as that inside people's email signatures. Since I use Thunderbird for business it happens frequently.

Looks like the INLINE BASE64 routine inside Thunderbird is acting very slow.

Can I get some fixo for it ? Regards

Start *Windows'* safe mode with networking enabled - win7 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17419/windows-7-advanced-startup-options-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7

Still In Windows safe mode, start thunderbird in safe mode - https://support.mozilla.org/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird

Does problem go away?

Tried both ways - nothing changes - problem still.

Let me detail it more : - I click over the message - The heading (From / To / Subject / Time / ...) appears as the footer as well with the "loading message..." status. The mouse pointer goes to blue turning circle. The middle part of the screen is blank. - After some time the message appears

Sometimes " Mozilla thunderbird (is not responding)" is shown - if you do nothing it recovers automatically after open the message.

A person who has an email signature has only one image - that shouldn't make things slow.

If the people chat through email, signatures may (and probabaly will) happens more than once normally. So images will get repeated increasing size of the message.

Are you meaning that if a have a base 64 image at my signature and this signature gets repated let's say 5 times there won't be 5 different physical images but only one copy that will be shown at each location?

Does thunderbird tracks and manage it ?

I hadn't considered that. No, I'm not saying that happens. And I don't believe it would be possible to manage inline images in such a way.

How many images are you talking about, in the average, non-trivial email?

That said, I think someone is working on attachment issues. Perhaps we will have something in beta that helps in the coming months.

I just opened up a message for testing purpose now - it has two HTML signatures sized 46k each including inline data and one attached pdf file of 459 kb - this is a small message - it may have more than ten images (or signatures).
