Firefox forces me to enable two-step authentication but fails to tell me HOW

Firefox obviously couldn't care less about users when it comes to making things user-friendly. What are users supposed to do in order to sign into their account? I don't need to enable two-step authentication, so why are they forcing me? If they think it's necessary, what is "my authentication app"? I don't have any authentication app and why do I need it to sign into my account on my PC??? Where do I get that authentication app? Is it really so hard to include a link or at least a name of that app?

Authentication app is an app like Google Authenticator or Authy, which generates codes for logging in. Don't you have an authentication app in you phone which with you registered your two-factor authentication?

So I need to have a smart phone in order to use Firefox on my Windows PC, then I need to install a third-party app I don't trust or simply don't want to have installed. Amazing.

But probably you chose to enable the 2FA. I don't use it because I don't need it and I am never asked for it when logging in. No need for you to install other app if it won't have your secret/seed set up with your account to check against.
