With update 71, all my tabs close when I shutdown Firefox. In Settings Startup, the "Restore previous setting" is greyed out. Also, I notice that there is a message in settings stating that my browser is being managed by my organization. I'm confused because I am a normal user on a private laptop.

In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear history.

  • do not clear the Browsing History
  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exception for password and other website specific data
  • clearing "Cookies" will remove all selected cookies including cookies with an allow exception you may want to keep

What security software do you have?

Some security software want to inject its root certificate in Firefox and makes some changes to Firefox to be able to achieve this.

You can check the about:policies#active page to see whether policies are active. You can open "about:" pages via the location/address bar

  • "about:" is a protocol to access special pages

Unfortunately no. My "clear recent history" is greyed out. Also. I don't see Options/preferences. The problem started with the update.
