Can someone tell me how to get rid of this etico search? I read that it is malware and I'm concerned
Every time I try to open up a tab I get this etico search engine page. I've tried to google about the issue and there is absolutely nothing out there. I did get one legit hit that suggested that it was malware. I have malwarebytes pro as well as webroot secure anywhere and neither of them can detect any malware on computer. Is this something new that has somehow learned to evade the protections in place. Any info you can provide me would be greatly appreciated. I am only writing you because I've found that it was a search engine option with internet explorer which I deleted and have not seen it anymore in IE. Just the same there are no traces of it in my chrome or safari. It just seems to be in my firefox which is my default browser which I love. Please help me. Thank You.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode
While you are in safe mode;
Look thru your add-ons list and make sure you know what each one is
there for. Also,
Windows > Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs.
Go thru the list and use a web search to check any that you don't
know what they are.
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
