You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:

• disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
• disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
• disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

I thought that I would also mention that i am using Windows Magnifier since I am visually impaired. The YouTube issue does occur with it on or off. Also when I went to check the Flash settings (not global), it would not respond when trying to view the options in it. When I turned off magnification, then it did respond. Prior to this YouTube issue, the only other time I would see Flash crash is when I have Firefox open (to a page that has flash content) with the Magnifier turn on and my PC would go into Windows Screen Saver. When restoring from the screen saver, flash would crash or sometimes Firefox would stop responding and then be OK after a minute or two. Not sure if Windows Magnifier is part of this issue somehow or not.

Did you try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox?

It seems that the problem has stopped. I did turn off acceleration in Firefox as suggested and flash did not crash with loading the YouTube homepage as it was. I then turned acceleration back on and it also worked fine with it on. i wonder if it was a YouTube based problem. Could a banner ad (that uses flash) on YouTube cause this type of issue? It seemed every time it occurred, the same banner ad was trying to load.
