Never had searchqu problems until installing FF5. Had to completely uninstall FF5 and then clean up windows. IE & Chrome were ok then. Reinstalled FF5, same again, searchqu/406. I have cleaned up windows again, and everything is fine. It does seem that this malware is related to FF5. Im using Dell XPS M1530 with Vista 32 home premium, although I still prefer XP.

-> go to Help Menu -> select "Restart with Add-ons Disabled"

Firefox will close then it will open up with just basic Firefox. Now

-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> General -> When Firefox start : select "Show My Home Page" -> Type the address of the website which you want to be your HomePage e.g. http:www.google.com -> click OK

-> go to View Menu -> Toolbars -> unselect "SearchQu Toolbar"

-> click the Favicon (small drop down menu icon) on Firefox SearchBar (its poistion is on the Right side of the Address bar) -> click "Manage Search Engines" -> select "SearchQu" and click Remove -> click OK

-> go to Tools Menu -> Add-ons -> Extensions section -> REMOVE "SearchQu" Extension and any other Unwanted/Suspicious Extensions (add-ons) -> Restart Firefox

You can enable the Trustworthy Add-ons later. Check and tell if its working.

Thanks for the advise, was partialy helpful. After searching through windows explorer I found the source of searchqu & bandoo, to a piece of software that downloaded itself in Oct 2010 called iLivid.exe. Going through the folder there was an uninstaller for part of it. The rest of the app appeared in program list as Windows/iLivid.exe, which I then uninstalled normally. Just re-installed FF5, and its working fine now. so, iLivid is one to watch for in the future. Its given me the run around for 2 days. Appreiciate the advise though!
