Cannot mute any video/audio player on any website in Firefox, also attempting to mute a tab has no effect on audio, which continues to play. For example the audio controls on YouTube do not function. Attempting to lower the volume does not work, nor does attempting to mute the player. I also experience this on Twitter and Twitch as well as any other website I visit to consume video or audio media. This issue is exclusive to Firefox on my system and is not present it Chrome or other Chromium based browsers.

What OS? Are you in X11 or Wayland? What desktop? Can you try the same steps with Firefox from Mozilla? https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release

I would have thought that information would be available in the additional system details provided when I posted. I am using Garuda Linux with KDE Plasma and X11. I installed originally this package package with pamac. The behavior is the same using that source directly. I know this hasn't always been the case since I installed but can't say when the behavior changed.

I cannot replicate the issue. Have you tried going back to a previous version to test? https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/
