i am wondering if there is a new update about the policies that preventing Firefox to access to local disk drive from file:// protocol.

Blocking access to the file protocol is on the to-do list. As far as I know, it's still not something that's been added to Firefox just yet.

Mike Kaply, one of the many people working on Firefox, does have something that can help (at least I think it still works properly): https://github.com/mkaply/fileblock

It's a little less user-friendly than a setting actually in Firefox, but that should be coming at some point in the future.

I ended up finding the blog post but unfortunately, as you said "the setup is not user-friendly".

I did not figure how to install.
