Thunderbird constantly tries to synchronize a folder.

Thunderbird appears to be stuck trying to synchronize a folder. Activity manager indicates the connection to the imap server is timed out. Other than thunderbird constantly trying to synchronize this one folder it appears to be operating properly. I can send and receive emails normally and move emails as needed into folders.
