The problem is I'm being asked to sign in every time I open Firefox. I do not want to do this. I believer the reason you are asking has something to do with synchronizing. Regardless, how do I stop you from asking me to sign in every time I open the browser?

You can disconnect Sync with "Options/Preferences -> Firefox Account" are by clicking the email address in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list.
