Hmm, right-click > Delete usually works. If you open the "Library" window using either:

  • "Show All Bookmarks"
  • Ctrl+Shift+b

and then click Bookmarks Toolbar in the left column to display its contents on the right side, can you delete the extras there, or do they not appear there?

While you're here, please make an export of your bookmarks for safety in case they are becoming dangerously corrupted. This article has the steps for that:

Note that you must right-click the folder itself and not the content in the smart folder. Note that Firefox can create new smart folder if there is a problem with this pref:

  • browser.places.smartBookmarksVersion

Are you using Sync since that is a common cause for corrupted bookmarks?
