my current email is being discontinued because of google no longer uses the program my internet provider uses. How do I transfer folders to computer file

Google has changed how they do things so my datamax account is going away. How do I save folders from my thunderbird program so I can delete the datamax account and add the new gmail accounts I have created. I don't want to lose the emails I've saved in folders. To much important info, But I can't change accounts for thunderbird to read until I delete the old accounts it looks like.

Not sure I understand the archiving and if I can get the folders into thunderbird as they were before I make this change.
