i have saved a file of bookmarks, but now when i try to restore this file the bookmarks are not shown plz tell what i have to do

i have backup file with the name of bookmarks-2014-05-03.json. but now i when restore this file a message comes " this will replace all of your current bookmarks with the backup are you sure" when i click ok nothing happens bookmarks are not shown

Could you check the file to make sure it contains bookmarks? To do that, you can drag and drop the file onto any open Firefox tab (preferably one where you wouldn't lose any work). Then use the find bar (Ctrl+f) to look for "uri" and click the Highlight All button. You should see dozens of highlights if all is well.

If the file checks out, there may be problems in your places database file that stores bookmarks and history. Was there a problem with bookmarks that motivated you to restore the backup?

Another possibility is to open the JSON file in the Scratchpad (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer) and click the Pretty Print button to format the file for easier reading.
