How do I manually examine a certificate I'm being warned about?

Greetings,

I am trying to verify a certificate that I'm receiving a warning about. I am operating in a high-risk (of certificate impersonation shenanigans) environment, and I'd like to pull the details about the certificate so I can manually examine the fingerprint, cert, and issuer chain.

Normally I'd do this by clicking on the lock icon in the URL bar and hitting "More Information", but if I'm stuck on the "This connection is untrusted" warning page, this is not available because the secure connection hasn't been established yet.

How can I manually examine a certificate within Firefox without granting it an exception first?

hello, the same should be possible through the "untrusted connection" error page. go to i understand the risks > add exception > certificate status - view... which should show the details you're looking for & you don't have to grant an exception after that. (the i understand the risks section isn't available in some situations though, like when the unsecure page is loaded through an iframe to hide its origin).

Really, I feel a bit silly now. I wish you didn't have to navigate into the exception window to view the cert, but at least it works. Thanks :)
