Back when I used Chrome, there used to be an option when you could right-click a word and get an option in the context menu to "look up". In Firefox this doesn't seem to be the case. Is there a way to enable this? Hello, some years ago I found how to prevent FF to ask for the master password too often. Obviously, this setting involved the about:config editing. Now, I'd like to reduce this time because I'm requested for the master password only at FF launching and I cannot find the options I changed. I looked for options with the word "expire", but it doesn't seem to affect the situation. What was the option I changed? Or what is it now (in case latest FF versions have different options)? Thanks

My Mac iOS updated and erased all my firefox bookmarks. I tried to log in and it created a new account instead of logging in to my firefox account. i need help recovering my saved bookmarks

Using online recommendations I was able to force the general theme to white, however individual segments of the FF UI still retain black (see the images). I want to whiten them too. I saw a heap of color related settings in about:config. I set one of them, layout.css.prefers-color-scheme.content-override, to 1 but that had no effect on the appearance of the said elements.

When I try to access Amazon on Firefox the entire password box is already full and will not delete, very scary, I cannot now enter Amazon unless I dump Firefox as a browser and choose Safari or Chrome

Apple's built in spell checker on the Mac is unparalleled. Not only does it integrate with the native dictionary, it also automatically detects and switches languages as you type. Right-clicking on an unfamiliar word brings up the "look up" option which fins the word in the dictionary. It's furthermore smart enough to detect misspelled words which are correct words in another language. I don't know how apple achieved this, it's remarkable.

Anyway, Firefox displaces this functionality on the mac with their own dictionary, which although good, is not as good as the native spell checking and dictionary.

Is there a way to enable the native dictionary for Firefox on the Mac?

Hello, I am wanting to disable time out on Firefox because it keeps timing out before I can fulling download an ebook. When I enter about:config no page opens for me to be able to make the changes. Would appreciate some help with this please. [email removed from public] Thanks

There was a minor Windows update on my work Windows 11 Ent laptop which I did and it restarted after which FireFox doesn't launch.

I am sure my sys-admin did not restrict this.

I do not want Firefox to allow: automatically install; check for: or use a background service for updates and i hate annoying pop ups telling me about updates ≈ every week.

It also generates warnings from all my cites with new logins etc

I don't need to be up to date on all decimals! Please allow also a less annoying schedule as every major update or every 5th or 10th update like 120, 130 etc

Using Mac OS 10.14.6. Firefox updated 4/11 with #112. Cannot log into a site which I previous had no problems with. Message from the site states password not recognized. Cleared cookies, history, and cache. This occurs on both Mac computers. Safari works fine. I don't know if it's the site or latest update.

All my bookmarks disappeared. I followed the instructions on the "help" pages. I went to the list of my profiles and went through each one, trying to restore bookmarks from each profile. But all of my profiles are from 2019; no more recent profiles are listed. Thanks in advance for any advice

Have not been able to log on to a few sites (all financial base: bank etc) since approx April 2023 Have done all the dirty dozen: cache/update FF/reset/ disabled ad blocks etc.) and still no luck: had to revert back (after about 10 years) to safari (ugh) scoured back in archives for similar problems but found no answer. Does anyone have any idea? (i have not upgraded my mac os 10.14.06 and require itunes to remain) Thanks

OS: Mac OS 10.14.5 Firefox Version: 113.0.2

Settings gives me multiple options for handling a .pdf file. The first three are (1) Open in Firefox; (2) Always ask; and (3) Save File.

If I select "Open in Firefox," the file will open in my existing window. If I select "Save File," the file downloads to my desktop.

The problem arises when I select "Always ask." If I then select "Open in Firefox," the file opens (in a new tab!) and simultaneously downloads to my desktop!

Is this a system glitch, or am I somehow doing something wrong?

Asked earlier about deleting and doing a reinstall. Would that mean losing bookmarks, profile etc.? I have backed those up and would like to know if anything else might be required.

YoutubeTV is suddenly not working on Firefox, fine elsewhere ... they suggest doing complete reinstall.
