Getting random unsolicited pop-up box to log onto http://people.moxilla.com

When connected online and using Mozilla products (Firefox 2.0.0.20, Thunderbird 2.0.0.20), I get a pop-up box frequently (at least every half hour) with header "Authentication Required", body containing two entries labeled "User ID" and "Password", followed by two buttons labeled "OK" and "Cancel". "Cancel" does not work (the box pops up again), the "X" in the upper right corner usually gets rid of the box on the second or third try.
