After going to my gmail account, my toolbars are no longer active.
If I use IE I can still get to everything. I think I accidentally hit something while typing that screwed things up. I couldn't even close Firefox - tried using right click on the bottom bar to close it that way and this huge long list of options came up and looked like they all pertained to videos/images instead of just the small drop down of "close, restore, maximize, minimize. etc. I'm typing this from my netbook where everything is working correctly on Firefox, so that makes it even more apparent that I've accidentally done something while typing in my Google search term.
This happened
Just once or twice
== I was typing a search in Google.

Seeing my question, I see they didn't put in what happened! I was typing a search term into Google when everything stopped - I couldn't link to anything, I couldn't close down, etc. I used control/alt/delete to get out (have done this for "freeze" problems) thinking when I went back in it would be okay, but when I go back in, I have a Google homepage, I click on G-mail, I can open my first e-mail, but from then on, nothing works - each time I try it. See "Description" in my original post to see the rest of the information I supplied.
